Slonimksi, Antoni
(1895-1976)
   Polish poet and author. Born in Warsaw, he was the son of an assimilated physician who converted to Christianity. Known as a liberal Roman Catholic, he was part of the Polish poetic revival that occurred with the re-emergence of a free and independent Poland. He was the founder of Skamander. After World War II, he returned to Poland from exile. From 1949 to 1951 he was head of the Polish Cultural Institute in London.
